The interview on "Verissimo" on October 26, 2025.
Pietro Pulizzi: "I suffered a double tragedy, one daughter missing and two others I no longer speak to"
Piera Maggio and Pietro Pulizzi on Verissimo: "Our daughter was not abducted by aliens. We have our own personal beliefs"
Piera Maggio and Pietro Pulizzi share on Verissimo the pain over the disappearance of their daughter Denise, who vanished in 2004 in Mazara del Vallo, in the province of Trapani, at almost four years old. "On October 26 Denise turns 25 and it is painful for us because it is a birthday without the birthday girl. We always hope that one day all this will end and that she can celebrate her birthday with us," says Piera Maggio.
Denise was born from the relationship between Piera Maggio and Pietro Pulizzi, but she bears the surname of Piera's then-husband, Tony Pipitone. "When Denise was born, my marriage was already just for appearances. My ex-husband and I were both aware that there were no more feelings between us," explains Piera Maggio.
For Denise's disappearance, Jessica Pulizzi—Pietro's daughter—was sent to trial, accused of complicity in the kidnapping of a minor, but was later acquitted due to lack of evidence. "We have our own personal beliefs. We always think the same way. Today we are here to accept the verdict, there have been acquittals, but there were also unpleasant situations even before Denise disappeared. There was a motive, and even the judges said so," says Piera Maggio.
After Denise's disappearance, Pietro Pulizzi broke off relations with his older daughters. "I suffered a double tragedy, one daughter missing and two others I haven't spoken to in 21 years," says Pietro Pulizzi. And he adds: "We ask the person who took Denise to tell us where she is, whether alive or dead. We are looking for her alive."
"Denise was not abducted by aliens, but by people who perhaps acted to ruin our personal situation, but they did not succeed, in fact we have become stronger," says Piera Maggio, who continues to search for her daughter Denise alive: "Until proven otherwise, we are looking for her alive."
