PRESENTATION OF THE ASSOCIATION
"CERCHIAMO DENISE" ONLUS
Legal representative Mrs. Pietra Maggio, mother of the minor who disappeared on September 1, 2004, in Mazara del Vallo (TP) Sicily.
The association was founded in 2007, with the aim of correcting the flaws in the Italian national system in cases of abuse, violence, and abduction of minors. In fact, among the activities carried out by the Association, one is particularly important and concerns Italian law itself.
The association Cerchiamo Denise Onlus was the promoter of the following laws:
1) The new criminal offense ART. 605 paragraphs 3,4,5 c.p. "ABDUCTION OF MINORS"
Law renamed "Denise Law"
2) The amendment to the offense referred to in ART. 574-bis c.p "REMOVAL OF INCAPABLE PERSONS" removal and retention of the minor abroad;

A) We have not joined other associations because our Association is an operational unit that has formulated an unprecedented bill for our country and therefore, to avoid confusion between other proposals and ours, we considered it appropriate to move independently.
B) Denise's case is a unique one in Italy as the dynamics of the abduction and the people involved make it different from other cases. First of all, it is an abduction and not a disappearance, and then the type of searches carried out by the Cerchiamo Denise Onlus Association in collaboration with the Farnesina, which has carried out important collaboration activities and on which we rely to continue research activities abroad.
C) The Cerchiamo Denise Association is in fact an initiative peculiarly linked to minors.
The association also aims to:
• expand the search for Denise Pipitone, through contacts between associations, institutions, organizations, bodies, companies, professionals and in general any suitable type of natural and/or legal person, providing the possibility of sharing the aforementioned contacts by involving the parents of other missing minors or those who have suffered violence;
• act as a meeting and gathering place to raise public awareness on issues concerning the social problems of missing minors and in particular for the search for Denise Pipitone, fulfilling the social function of human and civil maturation and growth, through the humanitarian ideal of protecting the rights of minors who have suffered violence, abuse and mistreatment, such as unlawful removal from family affection.
• Promote a culture of legality on issues related to abuse, disappearance, and abduction of minors by involving institutions in the administrative and legislative fields, also through proposals to amend existing laws or even by means of a popular referendum.
