They seem more like quizzes than trials. With answers that are never definitive: more the whimsical result of a lottery than the considered outcome of a deliberation room. Will Alberto Stasi be innocent or guilty? And will Denise Pipitone still be alive? In Italy, judicial mysteries open, but they do not close. They drag on for years and years and often disappear from the horizon only due to exhaustion. Sloppiness, an investigative system that flounders, the roulette of expert reports that dismantle each other.
THE RIBBON AND THE LITTLE GIRL
Sometimes there isn't even a body. Where is Denise Pipitone, who disappeared on September 1, 2004, while playing just steps from her home? It's a national mystery that has lasted almost eleven years. Yet even here, twists and turns come with extreme delay. Denise's half-sister, Jessica Pulizzi, is on trial, accused of kidnapping. And in court, a shocking wiretap is heard: "When we were at home, mom killed Denise." The conversation between Jessica and her sister Alice is dated October 11, 2004, but only surfaced at the end of 2014. In between, there is an abyss of hypotheses, leads, and investigative stammering. Why is this tape coming out only now? They say the police performed miracles by cleaning those tapes with ultra-sophisticated techniques, removing noises and rustling that previously made many conversations incomprehensible. Including the one containing the explosive revelation. "And yet," explains lawyer Giacomo Frazzitta, legal representative of Denise's mother, Piera Maggio, "Jessica's conversations seemed to refer to other chats probably in the hands of investigators. "I don't expect anything from Alice Pulizzi's interrogation. Absolutely nothing. She hasn't said anything in the last ten years, so why should she do so today at the trial?" Piera Maggio, the mother of Denise Pipitone, the four-year-old girl who disappeared from Mazara del Vallo on September 1st ten years ago, told Adnkronos. Today she will be heard at the appeal trial, in which Jessica Pulizzi, Denise's half-sister, is accused of complicity in the kidnapping of a minor, and her younger sister, Alice Pulizzi, who is now 22 years old.
At the last hearing, the Palermo Court of Appeal appointed an expert to listen again to and transcribe some conversations already included in the case files. Among these is a dialogue between Jessica and Alice. According to the civil party, in the conversation in dialect it would appear that Alice said: “We were at home… Mom killed Denise…”. And Jessica: “You must not speak… (You must not talk, ed.)”. This interpretation is disputed by the defendant’s lawyers. An expert for the defense in fact says that it is impossible to determine with certainty the content of the words whispered at the home of Anna Corona, mother of Jessica and Alice.

"We had never heard this sentence which, whatever the defense says, can be clearly heard," he adds.
The task of carrying out a new expert analysis of the conversation, on January 30, will be entrusted to two technicians from Rome. "We are happy," concludes lawyer Frazzitta, "so we can put an end to the boasting." The disputed phrase, which could prove decisive for the trial and on the basis of which the Marsala Prosecutor's Office has initiated proceedings for murder against persons unknown, is contained in an environmental wiretap from October 11, 2004. During the conversation, Alice tells Jessica that it was the mother, Anna Corona, who killed the child. Today on the witness stand, before the Court of Appeal, Alice Pulizzi took the stand and denied ever having accused her mother. Also for this reason, in order to have certain data about the conversation, the judges ordered that it be listened to again and transcribed by a panel of experts.
After the news of the new wiretap, the Marsala Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation, this time not for kidnapping, but for murder. The hearing has been postponed to next January 30.

Mazara del Vallo, January 30, 2015 – Today, before the Court of Appeal of Palermo, the new experts appointed by the Court, Badalamenti and Delfino, serving in the state anti-crime police in Rome, were sworn in. This is a second expert report on the new phrase that emerged during the environmental wiretap of October 11, 2004, between Jessica and Alice Pulizzi. The Court deemed it appropriate to carry out new expert reports on the phrase considered very serious for the purposes of the decision. The two experts will begin the filtering and transcription work on February 5 in Rome, and have requested 60 days. The hearing on the conclusion of the work has been set for April 17. The lawyers of Piera Maggio and Pietro Pulizzi have appointed consultants Pietro Indorato and Prof. Roberto Cusani.

APPEAL TRIAL FOR THE KIDNAPPING OF DENISE: HEARING ON APRIL 24, 2015 Friday, April 24, 2015, before the Court of Appeal of Palermo, the new experts appointed by the Court, Badalamenti and Delfino, serving with the state anti-crime police in Rome, will be heard regarding the conclusion of the work carried out. This is a second expert report on the new phrase that emerged during the environmental wiretap of October 11, 2004, between Jessica and Alice Pulizzi.
The Court considered it appropriate to carry out new expert reports on the sentence.
Denise Pipitone's family members have never given up in their search,
the new Age Progression will be released soon, showing how he/she might look today.

- According to the new Age progression 2014, this would be the face of Denise Pipitone as she might look today. The image was processed and created by computer by the RIS of Rome, the same ones who in 2008 created the first image of Denise. The family thanks them for the work done.
Tomorrow, hearing with the experts' testimony on the second analysis of the statements that emerged on appeal.

SUMMARY OF THE HEARING OF APRIL 24, 2015
NEWS 24/04/2015 FROM THE FAN PAGE OF LAWYER G. FRAZZITTA => Denise Case: today a hearing in the Court of Appeal to listen to the two new experts appointed by the Court, Stefano Delfino and Badalamenti, to verify what was heard by the other expert Mendolia, also appointed by the same court, and the latter have stated that they do not hear the phrase "the mother killed Denise." Our consultants Dr. Indorato and Eng. Cirillo have questioned the methodologies used by the two experts. The next hearing will be on May 15 for the closing arguments of the Attorney General and the speeches of the civil parties. We can state that at the end of this long appeal trial we have many more elements compared to those, already quite sufficient, that we had at the time of the appeal.

The Appeal Process for the kidnapping of Denise Pipitone is nearing its conclusion. On Friday, May 15, 2015, the hearing will be held before the Court of Appeal of Palermo for the closing argument of the Attorney General and the speeches of the civil parties. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL REQUESTS 15 YEARS IN PRISON FOR JESSICA PULIZZI, IN THE SECOND DEGREE TRIAL FOR THE KIDNAPPING OF DENISE. FRIDAY 22ND, ANOTHER HEARING FOR THE CIVIL PARTIES' CLOSING ARGUMENTS.
#NEWS 5:00 PM - 15/05/2015 from the Fan Page of Lawyer Giacomo Frazzitta: => Denise Case: The General Prosecutor, represented by Dr. Rosalba Scaduto, brought order to the legal issues addressed by the Court in the verdict, placing them in the correct regulatory framework, that is, recognizing the credibility of the victims, both intrinsic and extrinsic, as their statements were corroborated by third-party witnesses, and on the other hand, deemed the defendant's statements unreliable and false as they were late and contradicted by the facts. Furthermore, she recognized a confessional value in the phrase "quannu eru cu Alice...a casa c'ha purtà" as it was included in a logical argumentative context in which they were talking about Denise and what had happened to her, finally giving a central and strongly indicative role to the deception carried out by the defendant's mother, when Police and Carabinieri, who were searching for the minor Denise, showed up at the Corona's house at 3:30 PM on 1/9/04 and she had them search the wrong house, because, as the Prosecutor said, "Indicative conduct aimed at hiding someone or something specifically concerning Denise."
